I look to debunk strict notions of evolutionary science and its hierarchical framework as a form of progress. My DEVOLUTION sequence denies the anthropocentric; slight gestures render intimate groupings of discrete forms that reference a multitude of genres and that appear to evolve – or devolve on the paper surface, reading as mutations of matter. This body of work proximates previous drawing methods and continues a conversation between the abstract and the recognizable through an extended conjuring of visual phenomena.
